Support Holy Redeemer School in the Do More 24 fundraiser on June 8.

Holy Redeemer School is proud to announce that Mrs. Elizabeth Scribner is the recipient of the Archdiocese of Washington's Golden Apple/Teacher of the Year award for 2017! Mrs. Scribner is one of just ten teachers selected from all of the teachers in the archdiocese.

In her 12th year as a teacher at Holy Redeemer School, Mrs. Scribner is the fourth, sixth, seventh and eighth grade Religion Teacher, sixth grade Literature teacher and the Testing Coordinator. Mrs. Scribner is also part of the Confirmation team and a Eucharistic Minister of the Holy Communion.

Mrs. Scribner truly lives out her faith, incorporating the Word of God into all aspects of her daily life. As an alumni wrote, "Mrs. Scribner would present the words and actions of Jesus in a way that we understood by drawing comparisons that affected us as middle schoolers. She elegantly conveyed Christ's divine wisdom and how he wants us to live."

A teacher and parent at the school credits Mrs. Scribner with helping so many of our students convert to Catholicism. "Our son believes without a doubt that Mrs. Scribner was the catalyst for his classmate becoming Catholic."

Mrs. Bovich said, "The Holy Redeemer community has a great respect for Mrs. Scribner, not only for her knowledge, but also for her generous nature. She cares for her students, her fellow teachers, and parents, with an attentive ear and a kind heart. She values the dignity of all students, recognizes their individual differences, and promotes social justice and other Gospel values as an integral part of her character."

Congratulations, Mrs. Scribner, and well deserved!

Holy Redeemer School is proud to announce that our very own Fourth Grade teacher, Mrs. Christina Harrington, is the recipient of the Archdiocese of Washington's Golden Apple award! Mrs. Harrington is one of just ten teachers selected from all of the teachers in the archdiocese.

Entering her 25th year as a teacher at Holy Redeemer School, Mrs. Harrington is the fourth grade Homeroom Teacher, the fourth and fifth grade Mathematics and Science Teacher, and she is also the Intermediate Level Coordinator. Additionally, she is a certified Catechist, the Chess Club moderator, member of the NJHS Faculty Council and a parent of two children who both have attended Holy Redeemer School.

Mrs. Harrington makes learning fun in her classroom, with unique experiments and demonstrations.  As one parents, said, 'She has the uncanny ability to meet every student she teaches precisely where they are at that moment, and she tailors her lessons to educate and challenge them every day. Her lessons are all rooted in the Catholic ideals of faith, hope and charity. She recognizes each student's unique talents and challenges and makes sure that each and every one of them strives for excellence. Most impressive is the almost magical sense of inner grace and calm that Mrs. Harrington possesses. Her quick wit and easygoing style make her a joy to be around.'

Congratulations, Mrs. Harrington, and well deserved!

Hear what some of our parents have to say about Holy Redeemer School:
"My husband and I looked into a lot of area schools trying to find the perfect fit, not only for our children, but for our whole family.  When we visited Holy Redeemer in January 2014, we knew without a doubt that we had found the absolute best environment for our children.  Worried that there would be no more spots available, we went straight to our car, opened up our laptop and completed the online application. Our son started Kindergarten in August 2015 and was immediately enveloped by friendly classmates, teachers, and administrators. When he was chosen as the “Superstar,” Mrs. Ervin sent home a list compiled by his classmates that listed all the reasons why he was a superstar to share with us.  I am so glad she did, because it only confirmed what I already knew.  He loves school, and we love it too! Our younger son will start Pre-Kindergarten in 2015, and he is so looking forward to joining his brother.  I encourage anyone I know that is looking for a great school to check out Holy Redeemer!" -Kelly

"This was a great school year for our children. They have thrived and flourished in a caring and spiritual environment filled with varied activities and learning opportunities. Our family had grown spiritually as we shared the religious growth with our children. To our Pastor, Principal, Teachers and Staff we appreciate you. We Thank You!"- Annette

"Holy Redeemer School has offered my children a high quality education, a strong supportive community, and a grounding sense of spirituality during a challenging year for our family. I feel very blessed that my children were with such skilled, nurturing, and caring teachers and administrators at HRS. My daughters grew and flourished at HRS and their little brother can't wait to join them this upcoming year!"- Shannon

Welcome to Holy Redeemer School

I am truly blessed to be the principal of such a welcoming school known for its excellence in education both within our community and the Archdiocese of Washington. Holy Redeemer School is a Catholic parish school rooted in Gospel values, and is committed to excellence in education with the power of faith.  Holy Redeemer School offers an educational program for Pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade designed to respect the dignity of all students, recognize individual differences, and promote social justice and other Gospel values as integral elements of Christian living.

Through worship and study of scripture, Holy Redeemer School celebrates the relationship between God and our faith community. Our standards-based curriculum, combined with innovative instruction, leads to higher individual achievement and academic excellence.  Our students are happy, excited learners with a great respect for their teachers and administrators.

The parents are the primary educators of their children.  I invite our parents to volunteer and be a part of the learning process here at Holy Redeemer.  It has become obvious to me that the parental support and energy I witness is an integral part of our school’s reputation for excellence and fosters such a strong sense of family and community.

With God’s blessings,
Mrs. Maria C. Bovich, Principal
