Under the guidance of teacher: Mrs. Ness and parent leaders: Ms. Abrego, Mrs. Bielec, and Mrs. Lee, the mission of Chef’s Club is to have fun while learning about food, cooking, nutrition and kitchen safety. We aim to accomplish this mission through guided tastings and following recipes to create dishes using interesting, healthy ingredients. We also aim to teach students basic cooking skills that can allow them to help at home or prepare a meal when a parent or adult is not able to cook for them.
The club is open to students in 4th through 8th Grades and meets about 2 Wednesdays per month from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. The club charges $5.00 per meeting to cover the cost of ingredients and a final end of year feast which parents are invited to attend. Virtus certified parent volunteer are always welcomed and encouraged to help at meetings.
