HRS Students Win American Legion Essay Contest

On Sunday, April 22, two of our students were honored by the Southern Maryland District of the American Legion. Cheyenne Parra, 8th grade, and Sekai Reid, 6th grade, both won first place at both the unit and the district level for their individual essays on Americanism. They each answered the question “What can you personally do to promote Americanism in your school or community?” Each year, Ivy Cristoffers, the unit representative for College Park, speaks very highly of our students. Both girls will have their essay submitted to the national competition.
