From Our Upper Level Science Teacher, Mrs. Martins
Mrs. Martins Favorites
6th grade studies Earth Science where we learn about Earth’s structure and major processes. 7th grade studies Life Science with a focus on a study of the classification of organisms, their structure and function, cells, ecology, and genetics. 8th grade studies Physical science, specifically fundamental principals in physics and chemistry.
Students engage in exploratory learning with regular labs and hands-on activities to demonstrate or investigate concepts – we boast of a reasonably equipped lab. They learn to use good laboratory techniques, and actively engage in problem solving using critical thinking skills as we strive to develop the skills essential for our children’s success in high school and life beyond. We also focus on developing academic skills in reading informational texts, note taking, report writing, and study-skills.
“Science and religion are not at odds. Science is simply too young to understand.”
-Dan Brown
