Spanish classes for grades PreK-4th grade typically meet once or twice a week and include music, culture, and many vocabulary words chosen to blend with what they are learning and practicing in other subjects. Classes include fun games using physical movement and visual aids as well as some artistic projects. For the older students, classes are held three to four times a week with progressively more advanced grammar, composition, vocabulary, and lessons on Hispanic culture and countries.
Textbooks used: Spanish is Fun (4th-5th), Avancemos 1a (6-7th) and 1b (8th)
Projects: Include written and oral presentations focused on a cultural or Biblical topic.
Novels: 7th grade will read Pobre Ana while 8th grade will read a simplified version of Don Quijote as well as a novel on a painting by Picasso.
